This honeybee stopped by to get some honey from the end of a honey straw at our local fall festival! You can see her extending specialized tongue known as a proboscis into the honey! In the fall most of the nectar sources dry up, so honeybees get desperate and will try and get sweet liquids from just about anywhere! | BeensBees

Bee tongues (otherwise known as the proboscis) is an amazing part of the bee anatomy... While foraging, honey bees will suck the nectar out of a flower (like a straw) and store it in their second stomach- also known as their honey sac.
