Firefighters show how to safely fry your Thanksgiving turkey

Don't forget turkey fryer safety this holiday season! Morehead City Fire-EMS Fire Marshal Jason Baker offers the following tips: -Ensure it is on a flat surface, and at least 10 feet away from buildings, trees and other flammable objects. -Make sure you follow the directions for the turkey fryer, and have the turkey completely thawed and dried off. -Measure the oil accordingly to avoid spill over and flames. -Never throw water on a grease fire! If you have a fire or medical emergency, call 9-1-1

It's almost turkey time! Here are some safety tips if you plan to use a fryer to prepare your feast: 🚸 Make sure kids and pets keep a safe distance from the fryer while in use. 🏡 Set up your frier at least 15 feet away from any building, on level ground. 🍗 Make sure your turkey is thawed and dry before you add it to the oil. 👀 Don't leave your fryer unattended!
