Multiple rounds of snow squalls are forecast to cover the western parts of the Upper and Lower Peninsula on Friday. These gusty conditions that mix heavy snow and high winds create brief, intense danger zones for drivers as they swirl up over highways, city streets and back roads, dropping visibility to near zero.

With the bulk of the severe weather set to come in over the weekend, there are still some things people in the path of the storm can do to prepare ahead of time.
