New York City's pivot to remote learning Monday has "gone very well," Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels said Monday.

Schools across communities in Western North Carolina are announcing closings, remote learning days for Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Some teachers asked students to write a poem about the snow and leave school early to get artistic inspiration.

The Portland Board of Education reviewed a limited remote learning plan for students at their meeting Tuesday night.

Officials said students can stay home, but faculty and staff members have to report to the school building.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools buildings will be closed to students, faculty, and staff again on Wednesday. Students are expected to hold another asynchronous, remote learning day.

The Wake County Public School System will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday due to the continued threat of black ice. It comes after the decision to have a remote-learning day on Wednesday.
