The average fuel price in state declined about 10 cents since last month. According to the EIA, gas prices across the state in the last year have been as low as $3.98 on Jan. 19 and as high as $4.73 on April 7. A year ago, the average gas price in California was 5% higher at $4.21 per gallon.
Data from Gasbuddy.com, meanwhile, shows the city of Fresno’s average gallon of gas at the moment was $3.95 — the lowest price since December 2022. The average current price is also about $1 less than what fuel was going for near the start of last summer.
After 17 straight weeks of falling fuel prices in Washington, the trend came to a halt this week, with statewide averages ticking up by nearly a cent. Nationally, a similar seven‑week streak of declining prices also ended.
