The Modesto Police Department is conducting a DUI checkpoint on January 16 to deter impaired driving and improve traffic safety, with financial support from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

The checkpoints honor the memory of Hannah Parton, who was killed by an impaired driver almost five years ago, as well as another unnamed woman, HPD said.
